Life Without Limits

2019 is halfway over and many of us are plagued by imaginary limitations that prevent us for accomplishing the things that we set out to do at the beginning of the year. Whether you believe it or not, an extraordinary and accomplished life is available to us all but there is a price we must pay and that price is change. Unfortunately, change is neither cheap nor easy. It often comes with a great deal of discomfort; discomfort we must embrace in order to reap the rewards involved. Opportunities are abundant and all around us but they could elude us if we are not willing to adopt change where it's needed.

For many of us, rather than adapt, we become talented at explaining our position. We have a plethora of reasons in our arsenal that we pull out on demand when we feel the need to explain or justify why we are not delivering on our promises - "I could complete this project if only I had the support of the team or I would be a lot further along by now if only my wife would stop nagging me every day or I would have been promoted by but my boss hates me." Reason after reason, we offer up excuses for our lack of productivity.

The truth is most of the limitations we face have very little to do with our external circumstances and more to do with what's going on in our heads. Our mindset is what makes or breaks us. Sadly, we will never ascend beyond how we think. Our lives will always fly in tandem with our thoughts. We all have conversations with ourselves. We talk to ourselves in our minds. When these self-directed conversations take on a self-defeatist tone, we ultimately limit ourselves in many ways. When we give our full attention and focus to all the reasons why our plans won't work even before we begin, we talk ourselves out of our bright futures.

If you truly want to live a life without limits, it's time to challenge the limitations in your mind that plague you. It's time to leave your comfort zone; become comfortable with the uncomfortable and abandon the familiar. Just because you've always done things a certain way does not necessarily mean change is not required. A triumphant life means not being afraid to color outside the lines. It means believing in yourself and the fact that a life without limits is available to you. Never let anyone or anything dictate what you can or can't do. The world is indeed your oyster.
