We are all driven by one thing or the other. For some, it's all about money. For others, it is the burning desire to make a difference. What drives you? What motivates you to be the best you that you can possibly be? I was thinking about that recently. I was thinking about the 'Why' behind Ola. I wanted to investigate the sense of urgency that often surrounds what I do, so I took some time to remind myself about what propels me to keep pushing forward regardless of the setbacks that come my way.
As I put my head down today and studied, I came across this quote by former president, Jimmy Carter and it made perfect sense - "I have one life and one chance to make it count for something…my faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.”
I am driven with an insatiable desire to make a contribution in the life of others. When the sun sets on my life, I want the world to know that I was here. I want my life to count for something. To be able to pour into the lives of others, it is crucial that I operate in the mode of continuous 'personal development' as it will be impossible for me to give what I don't have. So I strive, I study and when I get tired, I remind myself about my 'Why's' and I get the strength and courage to keep going.
What is that thing that drives you? What causes you to jump out of bed with excitement at the start of a brand new day? What is the 'Why' behind you? What kind of story will your life tell? What legacy will you leave behind long after you are gone? If you are yet to discover what that thing is, I encourage you to dig deep and find it now. Once you know for certain, get to work putting your stamp on the world. There is nothing more rewarding than leaving a legacy for the next generation.
