One Life

How many chances do we actually get to make our lives count? One - yes, just one. This is it. I know some schools of thought believe you come back after you die, this is not a philosophy for living that I subscribe to. In my view, life is definitely no dress rehearsal so let's not make the mistake of treating it as if it is. Let's not sit back in the passenger's seat of our own lives and allow the winds of life to blow us in whatever direction it wants to. Let's not be lackadaisical with the opportunity that we've been given to live. We only get one bite at the apple of life.

So what do we do now if we have failed to maximize the years we've been graciously given? What do we do if we are in our 50's and have made colossal financial mistakes? How do we recover if we've invested in the wrong people and all the wrong things? The good news is that no matter how much time we think we've wasted, it's never too late to begin again. It's never too late to be what we might have been. We must make a decision to stop the spinning cycle of being led and directed by our appetites. Rather let's choose to strategically think, plan and commit to life in a positive way; in a way that positively influences the lives of others. It's definitely time to stop feeling sorry for ourselves. It's time to refuse to accept mediocre living as if it's the only option that's available to us.

If we are going to change the circumstances around us, we must first be willing to change ourselves.
To ascend the ladder of life, we must first be willing to climb. No matter how much our friends and families love us, there are some mountains we must climb alone. Making our individual lives count is one of those mountains.
